Girls Singles Champion Julia Chappell

Runner up as a freshman in 2014, Julia was determined to take the title this year.  She dropped no more than 3 games in the first 3 rounds before coming up against Bedford’s #1 Abby Ramsey.  Although the crowd had hoped for a close match Julia was decisive in her 6-3, 6-2 win.  In the finals Julia faced the number two seed Sydney Harrington a freshman from Bishop Brady.   Duplicating her score from the previous round Julia won 6-3,6-2.  Julia is perhaps the first player from Manchester Central to take NH’s Tennis Title in over 20 years.

Girls Double Champions Julie Aichinger and Abby Ramsey

Bedford’s dominant number 1 Doubles Team of Senior Julie Aichinger and Junior Abby Ramsey were ready this year after a disappointing early elimination in 2014.  Getting to the 4th round and dropping only 1 game the dynamic duo was ready to take on the formidable Bishop Brady team of Harrington and Yoon.  Surprisingly Yoon did not show and Harrington was left to forfeit the match.  This left the duo sitting as they waited to play the Killinger sisters from Concord.  Going in cold they dropped 3 games in the first set but came roaring back with a 6-0 win in the second.

Boys Single Champion Max Reed

A Senior at Lebanon High School  Max is known more for his Squash than his tennis.  Seeded #8 in the tournament Max showed that he is as comfortable on the tennis court as he is on a squash court.  Max breezed through the first few rounds before coming up against the #7 seed Henry Bulkley from Oyster River where he won the match in a third set tie breaker.  In the finals Max came up against Concord’s Justin Toler the favored to win player and seeded #3.  The final match was close and tension filled.  Max’s ability to stay in the point ultimately allowed him to win.

Boys Doubles Champions Justin Toler and Thomas Bengston

Winning in Tie breakers in both the 3rd and 4th rounds the Concord team of Toler and Bengston were match hardened by the time they reached the finals.  In the 3rd round they had faced Bedford’s #2 team of Horne and Gould and in the fourth round they edged out the win against Derryfield’s #1 Cissel and Grondin.  The finals looked to be a nail biter as they faced the #1 Bedford team of Allen and Yerram.  The Concord duo took the first set 7-5, which appeared to take the wind out of Bedford’s sails as Toler and Bengston cruised through the second set 6-3 to take the title.
